Oh my God, the Dairy Queen is gone.” Those
were the words Tracy McWane heard while listening to her
car radio at her home on the evening of April 13, 2006,
after a 150-mile-per-hour tornado carved a path of devastation
through the Iowa City area.
McWane, who owns the iconic Riverside Dairy Queen with her
husband, Scott, was terrified. Her husband was at work that
night because a manager had called in sick.
